Local ROTARIANS "Pitch In" for the Sanford Mainers!

On Thursday, June 23rd, members of the Rotary Club of Sanford-Springvale volunteered to serve fans and supporters of the Sanford Mainers, as they faced the North Shore Navigators at Goodall Park.  There was barely any parking space available in the lot and along neaerby streets.  "Sanford Mainers - southern Maine's Premier baseball experience, provide family-friendly fun for the entire community" according to their brochure.

Local Rotarians and "friends of Rotary" are, from Left to right: Jessica Rice, Ericka Sanborn, Patrick Sanborn, Elias Thomas, Mark Mickeriz and Heather Thomas Beaupre.

The members of the local Rotary Club have traditionally supported the Mainers, both financially, as well as "pitching in" at the concession stand, since the team was created in 2001.  According to incoming club president, Elias Thomas, "Being able to serve our community in many different ways is always a positive, but literally serving up hot dogs, Moose Pies, soft drinks and popcorn to the fans, gives us a great opportunity to get to know the community better, while they learn about Rotary!"

Not only have several Rotarians served on the Board of Directors of the Sanford Mainers for more than two decades, but one Rotarian, in particular, KEITH PATTERSON, a local attorney, provides the "color" while he calls the games from the grandstands.
